Yesterday was a pretty crappy day all the way around. People do suck! But I can always count on my children to brighten my day.
We were getting ready to go to my in-laws and Boop was in the kitchen with Tom. I could hear them talking about something, but couldn’t understand them. Next thing I know, I hear both of them laughing and Boop saying, “Daddy, you are my best friend!” Tears instantly formed! Then he said, “Yeah, you are my best friend ’cause we are both boys… And Mommy’s a dirl!”
I asked him what Loo was. He said, “She is my pity dirl (Boop-ese for pretty girl)!” Then, I could see his mind working, so I waited before I said anything else. He came over to me as I was holding Loo and said, “I luv you Mommy, but you and Loo can be best friends ’cause you are both dirls!”
Sometimes I think he knows exactly what to say to melt my heart and make all the troubles in the world go away…. I just hope he doesn’t lose that as he grows older…
I’m so sorry you had a bad day yesterday…but I always find that when I’m having the worst days, Julia will say something that just melts my heart and restores my faith in humanity.
